OAKLAND, Tenn. – A Mid-South man who had been missing for days was found deceased Thursday morning, according to the Oakland Police Department (OPD).
OPD said 59-year-old Steven Holcomb left his house around 11:20 a.m. on Monday, October 20. He drove away in his four-door gold 2000 GMC Yukon XL. Officers later discovered the vehicle abandoned within the Oakland city limits.
Less than 24 hours after officers distributed a missing persons flyer to help find Holcomb, OPD said the Oakland man was found deceased.
“The Oakland Police Department takes this loss along with all of you, as many of our officers have spoken with Mr. Holcomb either at his workplace or outside his home. Mr. Holcomb was a kind man and would always show us the same respect we showed him. This will be an open case until further notice due to the circumstances in which Mr. Holcomb was found,” the police department said in announcing Holcomb’s death.
OPD did not immediately say if foul play was suspected in Holcomb’s death or if they believe there is a suspect in the case.
