Texas A&M baseball improved to 11–1 on the season with another run‑rule victory, taking down UIW 11–1 in seven innings on a walk‑off hit‑by‑pitch during Tuesday’s midweek matchup. The Aggies now turn to their final nonconference series, hosting the Oakland Golden Grizzlies (1–11) at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park in Bryan‑College Station.
The Aggies are still ironing out pieces of the lineup, but they continue to find ways to win. A few spots in the order still need to be taken control of, and the eventual return of Chris Hacopian and Wesley Jordan from injury should help stabilize the offense.
Even with those absences, A&M is putting together competitive at‑bats and taking care of the opponents they should be beating at this stage of the season. With only a handful of games left before traveling to Oklahoma for the start of SEC play, this weekend offers another chance to sharpen things.
This series marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs. While mid‑major matchups can always be unpredictable, Oakland has struggled significantly against SEC competition this year, dropping all five of its games—including three consecutive run‑rule losses to Georgia. A&M cannot afford to sleepwalk through the weekend, and any real struggle would raise legitimate concern. For now, though, the Aggies continue to look like a group capable of playing deep into the postseason.
