A pedestrian died and a scooter rider was taken to the hospital after a collision with a vehicle in San Francisco Thursday night, police said.

The collision happened at about 10:42 p.m. in the area of Kearny and Broadway streets in the city’s North Beach neighborhood, according to police.

Responding officers found the pedestrian, the scooter rider and the driver at the scene. The pedestrian, a man, died at the scene, police said. The scooter rider, also a man, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver cooperated with investigators, police said. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to have played a roll in the collision.

An investigation is underway.
