The Kern County Coroner released the name of a man killed in a New Year’s Day traffic collision.

The coroner said Andres Lopez Pablo, 39, of Taft, died in the accident at Pico Street and South Tenth Street.

The time of the collision is unknown. Thee coroner said it occurred on Jan. 1.

The wreck was not discovered until 8:31 a.m.

California Highway Patrol officers said it Pablo was the driver and only occupant of a car traveling east on B Street. The vehicle drove through the intersection at South Tenth, across a vacant lot, through a wooden fence and struck a large eucalyptus tree in the yard of a vacant house.

A CHP officer at the scene said the crash believed to have occurred sometime overnight on New Year’s Eve or early New Year’s Day
