Texas A&M baseball has adjusted its weekend schedule against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, moving Saturday’s finale up to avoid expected inclement weather. The series will now open with a Friday doubleheader on March 6, with Game 1 set for 2 p.m. CST and Game 2 at 6 p.m. The third and final matchup is scheduled for Saturday, March 7 at 11:00 a.m.
The updated lineup also confirmed that Chris Hacopian and Wesley Jordan remain out, though the staff is optimistic both could return for next week’s midweek game against Stephen F. Austin. Their availability will be important as the Aggies prepare to travel to Norman to open SEC play against Oklahoma. Even without two key contributors, Texas A&M has handled its early schedule well, starting the season 11–1 with the lone loss coming against No. 1 UCLA. There is still plenty to refine, but the Aggies appear to be in a far stronger position than they were at this point last year.
This weekend marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs. While mid‑major series can always present unexpected challenges, Oakland has struggled significantly against SEC opponents this season, dropping all five matchups, including three straight run‑rule losses to Georgia. A&M cannot afford to coast through the weekend, and any real difficulty would raise fair concern. For now, though, the Aggies continue to look like a group capable of playing deep into the postseason.
