BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Three people were arrested after Bakersfield police caught them buying alcohol for minors who were working with law enforcement.

“Shoulder Tap” operations conducted by the Bakersfield Police Department and California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control resulted in three people being arrested in west Bakersfield on Feb. 18 and March 3.

All three suspects bought alcohol for minors who informed them of their age and were later released at the scene.

Buying alcohol for a minor can cost a minimum $1,000 fine and 24 hours of community service.

A “Shoulder Tap” operation is when a minor informs people walking into the store they are underage, while asking them to purchase alcohol for them. The minors working with law enforcement are under close supervision by police.
