46-Year-Old Man Dead After Crash on San Leandro Street in Oakland
Oakland, CA (March 4, 2026) – A man died Tuesday night after a vehicle struck him in a crash on San Leandro Street in East Oakland, according to authorities.
The fatal crash happened around 9:15 p.m. in the 7100 block of San Leandro Street.Â
Officials said the man, believed to be 46 years old and unhoused, was initially standing in the roadway. Police reported that several vehicles were able to avoid him.
Investigators said the man later crouched down in a westbound lane for reasons that remain under investigation.Â
A Toyota Corolla driven by a 17-year-old Oakland boy then struck him.
Emergency responders transported the man to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him deceased.Â
