Sacramento County coroner’s officials have identified the woman who died as an unidentified patient at a Sacramento hospital in January after a public plea from officials for help earlier this week.

“Due to the tips and information provided by community members, the Coroner’s Office was able to promptly identify the decedent,” Sacramento County officials said in a statement Friday. “Most importantly, this allowed investigators to notify her family.”

The woman was unable to provide her name when she was admitted to Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento, officials said. Days later, on Jan. 25, she died.

For weeks after, she was known only as Jane Doe. Her case with the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office was listed as No. 26-00419.

Earlier this week, coroner’s officials asked the public for help identifying her, offering details about her age — she told medical staff she was 39 — and physical characteristics.

She had tattoos. She was allergic to blueberries. She had a “specific medical condition that would be familiar to family and friends,” coroner’s officials said. She also wore glasses.

On Friday, county officials announced she had been identified.

“The Coroner’s Office greatly appreciates the public’s willingness to assist in these matters,” Sacramento County officials said in the statement. “Community cooperation plays a vital role in helping our office identify Does, thus providing answers and closure to families.”
