(FOX40.COM) — Three people were arrested after law enforcement discovered nearly $350,000 worth of stolen construction equipment at a homeless encampment, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

After a series of thefts that targeted construction sites and county projects throughout Sacramento County, SCSO said they began to investigate the reports.

“These crimes affect private businesses and had a serious impact on the County’s Civil Engineering Department with ongoing infrastructure projects,” SCSO said.

The investigation led deputies to a large homeless encampment in South Sacramento, where they reportedly discovered nearly $350,000 worth of stolen industrial tools and equipment, such as windows, solar panels, a septic tank, and a power box. Three people were arrested near the encampment, including two suspects wanted on felony no-bail warrants, according to SCSO.

Additionally, deputies said they towed five vehicles and two RVs. They also discarded over 8 tons of trash and debris, to help clean up the area.
