Police are investigating two unrelated stabbing attacks that occurred within minutes of each other in Long Beach, authorities said Saturday.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 10:30 p.m. Friday to a stabbing in the 5400 block of Diary Avenue, where the victim, suffering from non-life-threatening stab wounds, had already been transported to a hospital, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

“Officers located and secured a crime scene,” according to a police statement. “The preliminary investigation indicates the victim and an adult male suspect were involved in a dispute that escalated, resulting in the victim being stabbed. The investigation is ongoing.”

Officers responding at approximately 10:58 p.m. Friday to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 1300 block of Martin Luther King Avenue located a man suffering from non-life-threatening stab wounds to his upper body.

“The preliminary investigation indicates the victim arrived at a family member’s residence after being stabbed,” according to the police statement. “The motive and suspect information remain under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.”

There was no other immediate information.
