Athletes braved the heat in the City of Angels on Sunday morning for the Los Angeles Marathon. The course starts at Dodger Stadium and ends in Century City.

The race caught the attention of many this week when organizers announced that, because of the weather, medals would be given out to runners that complete just 18 miles of the 26.2-mile course. With temperatures expected to rise into the 80s by midday, participants who are “having a tough day” can peel off at the 18-mile mark, which is near the finish the line.
