Police arrested three suspects after a chase involving a stolen pickup truck ended in a crash and a foot chase through a Fresno neighborhood.

An officer patrolling near Belmont and Abby Avenues spotted a black Ford F-150 that had been reported stolen two days earlier, police said. The officer requested air support and additional patrol units before attempting a traffic stop.

The officer activated emergency lights to stop the vehicle, but the driver immediately fled, prompting a chase while the sheriff’s helicopter maintained visual contact with the F-150.

The vehicle entered a nearby neighborhood and eventually crashed into a staircase leading to a home, police said.

After the crash, the suspects fled on foot through nearby backyards while officers established a perimeter.

One suspect was seen running along Poplar Avenue and was taken into custody shortly afterward.

During the search, a resident reported that one of the suspects had kicked in the door of a nearby home. Officers later located the two remaining suspects in the backyard of a home in the 300 block of North Poplar Avenue.

Police said all three suspects were taken into custody, processed, and booked into the Fresno County jail.
