A correctional deputy with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office was arrested following an investigation into allegations of sexual battery and false imprisonment, authorities said Sunday.

The deputy, identified as 29-year-old Yash Patel, was arrested Saturday in Jurupa Valley and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center. He faces one count of sexual battery and one count of false imprisonment, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Patel began working for the department in July 2021 and was most recently assigned to the Robert Presley Detention Center.

The Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Bureau launched the investigation on March 7, 2026, into allegations involving an off-duty correctional deputy.

In a statement, the Sheriff’s Office said it holds its employees to the highest standards of professionalism and accountability and that allegations of misconduct are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.

The investigation remains ongoing. Details on the case were not revealed.

Patel was placed on paid administrative leave pending an administrative investigation.
