Sacramento Ballet is honoring Ron Cunningham for his 30 years with the company and his lasting impact on Sacramento’s artistic community.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento Ballet is remembering longtime leader Ron Cunningham for his decades of contributions to the organization and the broader arts community.

In a statement, board president Alyssa Paoletti reflected on Cunningham’s impact during his 30 years with the company.

“Ron Cunningham was a pillar of Sacramento’s artistic community, dedicating 30 years to the Sacramento Ballet and shaping it into a vibrant and beloved institution,” Paoletti said.

Paoletti said Cunningham helped the company grow and develop a wide range of performances during his time with the organization. According to the statement, those productions included both classical ballets and new works.

“Under his leadership, the company flourished, offering dancers a nurturing and challenging environment, and audiences a rich tapestry of performances that ranged from timeless classics to daring new works,” Paoletti said.

Paoletti also highlighted Cunningham’s commitment to artistic excellence and community engagement, saying his influence will continue to shape the region’s cultural landscape.

“His commitment to artistic excellence and community engagement leaves a legacy that will inspire Sacramento’s cultural landscape for generations to come,” Paoletti said.

The Sacramento Ballet also shared condolences to Cunningham’s family and loved ones.

“He will be greatly missed, and we hold his family and loved ones in our thoughts as we honor the remarkable life and legacy he leaves behind,” Paoletti said.
