BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Americans across the nation are adjusting to Daylight Saving Time.

As we lose an hour of sleep, health experts are warning the impact goes far beyond feeling groggy.

Chief Medical Officer at California Central Valley Market, Dr. Hemmal Kothary, joined ARC Bakersfield to share more details about how the time change can impact health.

Dr. Hemmal says to avoid the negative effects of the time change people should maintain a consistent bedtime routine, get morning sunlight and limit caffeine and alcohol.

He also says to limit screen time and avoid heavy meals before going to bed.
