FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Five people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence during a DUI checkpoint on Saturday in Fresno.
The checkpoint was located at Maple Avenue and Cesar Chavez Boulevard from 9 p.m. on Saturday to 4 a.m. on Sunday.

Checkpoint locations are selected based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes.
Police contacted 285 vehicles during the 7-hour operation.
In addition to the DUI arrests, 26 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle without a license or with a suspended or revoked license.
The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.
The next DUI enforcement operation will be a DUI saturation patrol scheduled for this Saturday.
