Each spring, Fast Forward from The New Ballet transforms the stage into a laboratory of movement, imagination and risk—and this year’s program promises to be one of its most dynamic yet. Taking place at the Hammer Theatre Center in downtown San Jose, the event showcases a bold lineup of emerging and established choreographers from across the U.S. and Canada, all pushing the boundaries of contemporary ballet.

Created by New Ballet founder and artistic director Dalia Rawson, Fast Forward was designed as both an incubator and a conversation. The program gives choreographers room to experiment while offering New Ballet Company dancers, including the talented Stefana Seizovic, the rare opportunity to perform works created specifically for them. Just as important, audiences are invited into the process itself, with choreographers sharing insight into their inspiration and the evolution of each piece. It’s uncommon behind-the-scenes perspective that deepens the experience.
Rawson, who founded New Ballet in 2016 and launched Fast Forward a year later, sees the program as central to the company’s mission. “I’m thrilled to celebrate the company’s ninth season of Fast Forward. It is a special opportunity for New Ballet to provide a platform for a diversity of choreographers to create new work, and for the dancers to be part of the creative process. It is always a favorite among both audience members and the dance artists performing on stage!”
