Astronomy on Tap Los Angeles: Jupiter’s Moons & Dark Matter – M FA > Astronomy on Tap returns on Monday with a pair of scientific talks (helped along by trivia, live music, and beer) at Dog Haus Biergarten in Pasadena. For the March event, USC PhD student Sasha Mintz opens with a talk entitled: “How the Smallest Galaxies Reveal Dark Matter’s Secrets,” followed by Caltech PhD student Tim Proudkii discussing: “How Jupiter’s Moons Became Alien Worlds.” Event starts at 7:30 p.m. Free to attend, but seating is first-come, first-served. Silent Book Club at Common Space – FA > Start your week this Monday by unwinding with a quiet evening of reading at Common Space Brewery. Organized by the Inglewood Chapter of the Silent Book Club, this monthly gathering is designed for those who love the atmosphere of a busy taproom but prefer to enjoy it with a good book. Star-Crossed Rendezvous – M FA > This Tuesday, take part in a unique sensory journey across two iconic institutions as the LA Phil and MOCA partner for an evening honoring the legacy of Korean composer Isang Yun. The event begins with extended viewing hours at MOCA Grand Avenue, featuring internationally acclaimed artist Haegue Yang’s sprawling installation, Star-Crossed Rendezvous. Afterward, the LA Phil New Music Group, led by conductor Earl Lee, will perform Yun’s Double Concerto for Oboe, Harp, and Small Orchestra at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Admission to both the museum viewing and the concert is free with an RSVP. Extended museum hours run from 5 to 8 p.m., then the concert follows at 8 p.m. More info here.

Love is Blind: A Staged Reading of A Fake Episode -> Experience a comedic take on the hit Netflix reality show at the Lyric Hyperion Theater & Cafe this Tuesday. A lineup of Los Angeles’ top comedians and actors will perform a staged reading of a completely fabricated episode script, poking fun at the infamous pods and the show’s unique dating experiment. Gorillaz House of Kong Exhibition – > Following its acclaimed London debut, Gorillaz have brought House of Kong to Downtown L.A. for a limited four-week immersive run at Rolling Greens DTLA. The exhibition invites fans inside the band’s animated universe, tracing the misadventures, music, and virtual innovation of Murdoc, 2D, Russel, and Noodle. You can also shop merch from the band’s discography and one-of-a-kind collectibles at a gift shop that serves as the gateway into the larger House of Kong experience. What A Wonderful World: An Audiovisual Poem – FA > The Julia Stoschek Foundation has taken over all six floors of the Variety Arts Theater with What A Wonderful World: An Audiovisual Poem, marking the first U.S. presentation of the renowned collection. The immersive exhibition blurs the boundaries between art and cinema, pairing major video works by artists like Marina Abramović, Doug Aitken, Paul McCarthy, and Wolfgang Tillmans with silent and classic films by pioneers including Alice Guy-Blaché, Georges Méliès, Luis Buñuel, and Walt Disney, turning viewers into active participants in a sensory journey. International Art & Found Day Treasure Hunt – FA > On Thursday, The Artist Tree celebrates International Art & Found Day by transforming all 12 of its California locations (include spots in Beverly Hills, Koreatown, Hawthorne and WeHo) into interactive art treasure hunts. Over 100 original works from local artists will be hidden both inside the dispensaries and “out in the wild” on park benches and in surrounding neighborhoods. To participate, keep an eye out for brown paper packages marked with a colorful “Free Art” sticker—if you find one, it’s yours to keep. Jack Pierson: Curtains at Regen Projects – FA > Beginning this Thursday, explore the intersection of nostalgia and language at Regen Projects as Jack Pierson presents his eleventh solo exhibition with the gallery. Curtains features his signature “word sculptures” assembled from salvaged vintage signage—ranging from the playful HOMOS ONLY to the existential PURE BEING—alongside a suite of 70 drawings originally published in 1994. The show also marks the Los Angeles debut of Pierson’s self-run New York space, Elliott Templeton Fine Arts, with a special presentation of works by artists including Gus Van Sant and Alessandro Raho.
