An East Bay charter school cancelled classes Monday to honor a teacher who was killed in a shooting at an Oakland nightclub over the weekend.
The incident took place early Saturday at E-Z’s Lounge near the 12th Street BART station, where two people were killed and five others were injured.
Police said multiple guns were recovered at the scene, but so far no arrests have been announced.
A teacher was among the fatalities in a shooting in Oakland early Saturday morning, a school president said Sunday.
Caliber Beta Academy eighth-grade English Language Arts teacher Latetia Bobo, 33, was identified as one of the two people dead along with 25-year-old Markise Martin.
Bobo, who was from Richmond, taught at the San Pablo-based charter school, which posted a statement on Facebook, saying that she was a special part of the school community.
Classes are canceled today in honor of Ms. Bobo.
