A stolen car pursuit ended with two people hospitalized and the car destroyed by flames in the Clairemont area of San Diego on Monday evening.
The driver of the vehicle failed to yield to police around 5:54 p.m. at 7700 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., prompting the chase, according to San Diego Police Department Officer John Buttle.
During the chase, the driver crashed near Genesee Avenue and Caminito Katerina, causing the passenger to be ejected from the vehicle, Buttle said. That person was hospitalized and there has been no update on their condition yet, according to police.
Even after that, the driver kept going and crashed again, this time in the area of Mesa College Drive and Ashford Street, Buttle said. The driver got out of the now-smoking vehicle just before it caught fire, police said. That driver was also hospitalized.
