Las Vegas baseball fans got another glimpse of what the future could look like Sunday afternoon.

With the Oakland A’s set to eventually make Southern Nevada their home, Big League Weekend wrapped up at Las Vegas Ballpark as the A’s defeated the Los Angeles Angels 7-4 in a game filled with lead changes and late home runs.

Oakland struck first in the bottom of the second inning when Tommy White drove an 0-2 pitch to left-center field for a solo home run, giving the A’s an early 1-0 lead.

The Angels answered in the fourth. Logan O’Hoppe launched a towering two-run homer to left field, putting Los Angeles ahead 2-1.

The A’s tied things up in the bottom of the fifth when Joshua Kuroda-Grauher ripped an RBI double down the right field line, scoring Henry Bolte to even the game at 2.

Los Angeles regained the lead in the sixth after Kyren Paris lined a double into left field, allowing Wade Meckler to score and giving the Angels a 3-2 advantage.

Oakland responded in the seventh with one of the game’s biggest swings.

Henry Bolte crushed a two-run home run to left-center field, scoring Tommy White and putting the A’s back on top 4-3. Later in the inning, Drew Swift added an RBI single to right field that brought home Kuroda-Grauher, extending the lead to 5-3.

The Angels made things interesting in the eighth when Oswald Peraza launched a solo home run to left-center, cutting the deficit to 5-4.

But the A’s had the final answer.

In the bottom half of the inning, Tommy White delivered again, blasting a two-run homer to right field that scored Chad Wallach and pushed Oakland’s lead to 7-4.

Oakland’s pitching staff held the Angels scoreless the rest of the way to secure the win and close out Big League Weekend in Las Vegas.
