BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 65-year-old man died after a solo-motorcycle crash on Sierra Way in Kernville Saturday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol said on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at around 3:32 p.m., officers were called to Sierra Way, south of Camp Nine, for a report of a solo-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.

CHP said a preliminary investigation found that a 65-year-old man was riding a 2021 Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Sierra Way, south of Camp Nine, at an undetermined rate of speed.

According to CHP, for reasons still under investigation, the rider was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The Harley-Davidson traveled off the roadway and up a dirt embankment in a southeasterly direction.

The Harley-Davidson subsequently overturned, and the rider was ejected.

CHP said during the crash, the rider sustained severe injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, it is unknown whether alcohol and/or drugs were factors in this crash, according to CHP.

Two weeks prior, another motorcyclist was killed after a solo-vehicle crash on Sierra Way, near Cyrus Canyon Road, about a mile away.
