SAN BRUNO, Calif. – In the opening weekend of the 2026 season, Sacramento State’s varsity eight placed first at the Sacramento State Invitational to earn West Coast Conference Rowing Crew of the Week honors.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE CREW OF THE WEEK – SACRAMENTO STATE VARSITY EIGHT
Sacramento State’s varsity eight finished first in its season-opening race at the Sacramento State Invitational on Lake Natoma. Racing with winds zipping between nine-to-12 miles per hour and a flow rate of 1,500 cfs, the Hornets crew posted a 2,000-meter winning time of 6:55.3 to garner the first-place finish in a four-boat field. The boat consisted of six seniors, two juniors and a sophomore.
