Gun goes off after passenger drops weapon on Fresno FAX bus

Police are investigating an accidental gun discharge aboard a Fresno FAX bus in Central Fresno on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers said the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. near Fresno and Belmont avenues as a group of passengers was getting off the bus.

According to police, one of the passengers dropped a gun, causing it to fall to the floor.

Investigators said the person attempted to pick up the weapon when it went off, firing into the ceiling and the metal door frame of the bus.

No passengers on the bus or people nearby were hurt.

Police are still working to determine what led to the gun being brought onto the bus and who was involved.
