TEMPE, Ariz. — The Padres beat the Los Angeles Angels 10-2 on Tuesday at Tempe Diablo Stadium.

Batter’s box: Jase Bowen, who is pushing for a roster spot as an extra outfielder, hit a grand slam. Bowen is batting .281 (9-for-32) with three doubles and two home runs. He has also stolen five bases in six attempts. … Catcher Freddy Fermin was 1-for-3 and has six hits in his past nine at-bats. … Corner infielder Jose Miranda remained tied for the team hits lead by going 1-for-3. Miranda is 11-for-30 (.367) this spring. He and Ty France, who did not play Tuesday and has 10 hits this spring, are options to make the roster if Sung-Mun Song (oblique) is not ready for the start of the season. … Nick Solak, an infielder/outfielder who has played in 259 big-league games since 2019, was 2-for-3 and is batting .355 (11-for-31).  … Pablo Reyes, a glove-first utility man who has played parts of seven seasons in the major leagues, drove in two runs with a single in the second inning and another run with a single in the fourth. He departed the game in the sixth inning after fouling a ball off his foot.

Balls and strikes: Walker Buehler, who is vying for a rotation spot, threw 68 pitches (44 strikes) while allowing two runs in 3⅔ innings. A bloop two-out single that fell between three fielders in shallow right-center field prolonged Buehler’s first inning by five pitches. He allowed a run in the second and another in the third and yielded five hits, two walks and hit a batter while striking out two. … Jackson Wolf took over for Buehler and allowed one hit in 2⅓ innings, extending his scoreless streak to 7⅔ innings over his past five outings. The 26-year-old left-hander, who made one major league start in 2023, is likely headed to his third season in Triple-A. … Bradgley Rodriguez, a hard-throwing 23-year-old right-hander who finished last season in the Padres bullpen, hit a batter but worked his sixth scoreless inning of the spring.

Extra bases: Automated Ball Strike challenges have become highly anticipated moments in spring training stadiums. That is, everywhere except Tempe Diablo Stadium. Other than the beer ad wrapped around three sides, the scoreboard at the Angels’ ballpark is similar to those found at high school fields. There is no video board. So there were no replays. Instead, home plate umpire Chris Guccione had to wait to hear from the technician in the press box and then announce the result of the challenge.

On deck: The Padres have their first day off Wednesday.
