FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — An Amtrak bus driver is in the hospital after a shooting in Downtown Fresno.
It happened at midnight at the Amtrak station on Tulare and O streets.
Police received a call of four to five shots reported in the area.
The bus returned to the station after dropping off several passengers and was parked in the roundabout.
After the passengers left, police say an unhoused man entered the bus with a gun while the driver was in the middle of cleaning.
“A homeless male fired multiple rounds at the bus, striking the bus, and one went through the window, striking the driver,” says Fresno Police Lt. Zeb Price.
Police say one of the bullets grazed the driver across his cheek.
He was taken to the hospital and is being treated for his injuries.
The suspect is still on the loose.
Police are working with Amtrak for surveillance video and any witnesses to the crime.
