Think you need a plane ticket to catch Broadway’s biggest hits? Not this year. Broadway San Diego’s newly announced season is delivering seven currently running Broadway shows.

Broadway San Diego has announced its 49th season, running from September 2026 through August 2027, bringing the magic of New York’s theater scene directly to San Diego’s audiences.

All shows in the upcoming season are productions currently running on Broadway, which is the first time in Broadway San Diego’s history, the organization said.

Here are the seven shows in the 2026-27 season:

“Oh Mary!” – Sept. 29 – Oct. 4, 2026

“The Outsiders” – Nov. 3 – 8, 2026

“Buena Vista Social Club” – April 13 – 18, 2027

“Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical” – April 20 – 25, 2027

“Maybe Happy Ending” – June 1 – 6, 2027

“The Great Gatsby” – June 22 – 27, 2027

“Death Becomes Her” – Aug. 10 – 15, 2027

“This season includes the last two Tony Award–winning best musicals,” said Vanessa Ybarra Davis, vice president of Broadway San Diego. “Reflecting our ongoing commitment to bring the very best of Broadway to our city, and we can’t wait to share them with San Diego.”

Broadway San Diego’s 49th season

Oh Mary! Sept. 29 – Oct. 4, 2026

The inaugural show of the 2026–27 Broadway San Diego season, “Oh Mary!,” kicks off a seven‑show lineup of Broadway performances. The dark comedy centers on one of the most criticized first ladies of the United States, Mary Todd Lincoln, during the weeks leading up to President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.

The Outsiders | Nov. 3 – 8, 2026

The winner of four 2024 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is “The Outsiders.” The Outsiders navigates the complexities of self-discovery as the Greasers dream about who they want to become in a world that may never accept them. “The Outsiders” is a story of friendship, family, belonging…and the realization that there is still “lots of good in the world.”

Buena Vista Social Club | April 13 – 18, 2027

A journey through music and memory into the beating heart of Havana, Broadway San Diego brings the story of the “Queen of Feeling,” legendary Cuban singer Omara Portuondo, to life. A tale of big dreams, second chances and music that needs no translation.

Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical | April 20-25, 2027

How did a dead body, a fake love letter and a journalist and author of the James Bond series turn the tide of World War II? An Olivier Award winner for best new musical and a 2025 Tony Award winner, “Operation Mincemeat” is the fast‑paced true story of the secret mission that helped win World War II.

Maybe Happy Ending | June 1 – 6, 2027

Winner of 6 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, “Maybe Happy Ending,” tells the human story of a chance encounter that sparks connection, adventure and maybe even love. Don’t miss the totally original new musical adventure that explores what it means to be human. Even if they’re not.

The Great Gatsby | June 22 – 27, 2027

Based on the classic American novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald, “The Great Gatsby” brings the Roaring Twenties—100 years later—to life. The musical, which premiered in 2024, revisits themes of wealth, love and the disillusionment of the American Dream.

Death Becomes Her | Aug. 10 – 15, 2027

Famous actress Madeline Ashton and her best frenemy, Helen Sharp, are about to go too far—thanks to a mysterious woman and a secret potion that’s to die for. Based on the classic 1992 film, “Death Becomes Her” arrives in San Diego to close out the 2026–27 Broadway San Diego season.

“Mamma Mia!” — June 15 to 20, 2027.

Want to see all of them? Season Ticket Packages are available starting at $335, including all seven shows. Tickets can be purchased online through Broadway San Diego’s website or by calling (888) 937-8995 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

Non-profit organizations, military and schools may also be eligible for special reduced prices, according to Broadway San Diego.

San Diego Theatre Month is happening in March

If September seems too far away, good news: March is San Diego Theatre Month.

All month of March, participating performing arts groups will be offering special promotions. There are $15, $30 and $45 offers. Some of the shows are free.

The program was launched by the San Diego Performing Arts League and hopes “to highlight the variety and enhance the awareness of San Diego’s diverse performing arts community,” according to the program’s website.
