BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — The parking lot at the Park at River Walk will be closed to residents temporarily from Thursday, March 12, to Saturday, March 14, for the third annual Bakersfield Police Motor Skills Competition.

The competition setup will begin with course setup at around 1 p.m. on Thursday. Vehicles will be blocked from accessing the entrance from Thursday to Saturday.

Last year’s Motor Skills Competition drew more than 40 competitors from six different agencies. The competition includes both Harley-Davidson and BMW motorcycles. This year, 29 law enforcement agencies with motor divisions have been invited to compete in Bakersfield’s event.

The competition is set to begin on Saturday, March 15, at 8 a.m. and will continue throughout the afternoon until all the competitors are finished, with awards determined at the end of the day.

Vendors and food trucks will be available at the event on Saturday.

Admission is free, and the park will remain open to the public.

Funds raised through event entry fees and event sponsorships will support ongoing training for BPD motor officers as well as local charities.
