Bond set at $50K for Flint man charged in Oakland County bank robbery, police say

  • October 24, 2025

TROY, Mich. – A Flint man has been arrested and charged in connection with a bank robbery near an Oakland County mall, officials said.

Jaquan Coreyonteliace Burks-Burnett, 32, is accused of robbing the Fifth Third Bank at 2282 W. Big Beaver Road in Troy at about 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025.

The suspect allegedly entered the bank wearing a face mask, gloves and yellow glasses, and demanded money from two tellers, before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police said “no weapon was seen,” and no one was hurt.

Witnesses told police that after the robbery, Burks-Burnett walked over to the Somerset mall parking lot and left in his car, which didn’t have a license plate on it.

Investigators used Flock footage to identify the vehicle and find Burks-Burnett.

He was taken into custody within four hours, according to police.

“Bank robberies are traumatizing and dangerous experiences for both tellers and customers,” said Prosecutor McDonald. “Law enforcement worked quickly to locate this defendant and he will be held accountable.”

Burks-Burnett was charged with bank robbery and arraigned at the 52-4 District Court on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025.

He was issued a $50,000 cash bond and must wear a GPS tether if he is released.
