Space Beach will soon have another resident, with defense and aerospace company Voyager Technologies announcing a large expansion to Long Beach.

Voyager, headquartered in Denver, will move into a new 140,000 square-foot location, 4350 E. Conant St., in the the heart of the city’s Space Beach area near the Long Beach Airport.

Space Beach is the colloquial term used to describe Long Beach’s status as a hub for aerospace, defense and technology companies. Though the city’s history with these industries dates back decades, Long Beach has experienced a surge in new companies moving or expanding to the area in recent years.

Voyager was founded in 2019 and has since acquired 12 companies, according to its website, including Estes Energetics, ExoTerra Resource and LEOcloud. Voyager works to deliver “transformative, mission-critical solutions,” according to a Thursday, March 12, announcement, and “aims to unlock new frontiers for human progress, fortify national security, and protect critical assets from ground to space.”

The new Long Beach facility, Voyager said, will play a critical role in helping the company develop and produce various technologies, including advanced electronics, artificial intelligence-enabled software, space infrastructure for low-Earth orbit, lunar and deep space missions, and communications and autonomy technologies.

“We are standing up capacity at Space Beach for one purpose: to deliver for our customers,” Matt Magaña, Voyager’s Space, Defense & National Security president, said. “We are moving fast from design to build, test and fielded capability, and this facility gives us access to world-class talent, a proven aerospace ecosystem and the collaborative energy of companies that are all pushing in the same direction.”

The company is also working with other Space Beach residents, including Anduril Industries and True Anomaly, to help achieve those goals, the announcement said.

Voyager’s Long Beach location is expected to bring around 150 to 200 jobs to the city, which will include technical innovation roles across artificial intelligence and electronics for space and defense, a company spokesperson said.

“We’re proud to welcome Voyager to our growing Space Beach ecosystem with a 140,000-square-foot facility advancing aerospace innovation, domestic manufacturing, and national security capabilities,” Mayor Rex Richardson said. “This investment brings high-skilled jobs, strengthens our local economy, and further establishes Long Beach as a national hub for the industries shaping our future.”

Voyager is expected to move into the new location immediately, the company spokesperson said, with full operations expected to up-and-running by the end of the year.
