LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State’s unique BeAChampion curriculum aimed at providing holistic development through structured coursework reached new heights in Fall 2025 as the program continues to develop and grow.

During the Fall 2025 semester, student-athletes across the first-year and fourth-year classes participated in programming designed to support key transitions in their collegiate experience and prepare them for success beyond athletics. 100% of incoming freshmen were enrolled in the ATHL 101: First-Year Foundation course while nearly two-thirds of Long Beach State’s graduating seniors took part in ATHL 401: Senior Sendoff.

Throughout the semester, student-athletes participated in workshops and guest speaker sessions designed to support both personal development and career readiness, including:

Alumni Panel for Senior Student-Athletes

Upperclassmen Panel for First-Year Student-Athletes

LinkedIn and Resume Development Workshops

Networking and Elevator Pitch Training

Personal Brand and Sports Agent Guest Speaker Sessions

Locker Room Finance Financial Literacy Workshop

Hazing Prevention Training

Alcohol and Drug Education Programming

Long Beach State’s Networking Night, now in its third year, continued to shine as a standout event. With a growth of 60% in participation from student-athletes, a new high of 21 companies and organizations took part including the Los Angeles Angels, FBI, Long Beach Fire Department, Long Beach Police Department, United States Secret Service, DHL, Gallo, New York Life, and several other local and national organizations.

To build on the momentum from Fall programming, the BeAChampion program will offer select in-person experiences for sophomore and junior student-athletes in Spring 2026, focused on leadership development, professional readiness, and personal well-being. While ATHL 201: Sophomore Success and ATHL 301: Junior Journey will primarily be delivered through asynchronous online modules due to impacted spring competition schedules, intentional in-person touchpoints are built in to support connection and engagement. These will include a Captain’s University session for both programs, a Stress Management and Mental Health Check-In with Long Beach State Mental Health Case Manager Caitlin Broadwell, and the popular “Dress For Success” Etiquette Dinner for the juniors.
