FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Several streets have been blocked off as police search for the suspects involved in a shooting at the entrance of the VA hospital in central Fresno.

Fresno Police say they received a call from the VA hospital’s police team about a victim with a gunshot wound at 9:11 p.m. on Thursday.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering a gunshot wound to his lower body.

Investigators believe the victim had no business at the VA hospital. They were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.

Authorities say multiple suspects took off on foot and ran across the street but are unsure if the suspects are still in the immediate area.

Officers have created a perimeter at the scene as the search for the suspects continues. A helicopter has been seen flying overhead to help aid in the search.

It’s unclear what led up to the shooting. Police believe at least one of the suspects is armed and dangerous.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and to find alternate routes.
