BLACK MEN: Alive and Well 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at the South Sac Family Resource Center, 4343 Williamsbourgh Drive. This group provides a safe and honest forum for Black men to come together and discuss issues related to being a Black man in America. We will check in, get current, and talk about things that we may find difficult to discuss in other settings, experiencing the unique therapeutic value of one Black man helping another. Free and open to Black men in the community.

Trish Toledo – Live Concert 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Harlow’s. Trish Toledo is a standout figure in the modern “souldies” (soul oldies) revival. Born in Carson and of Ecuadorian-Guatemalan descent, she is celebrated for her rich, smoky vocals that effortlessly bridge the gap between 1960s pop/soul ballads and modern R&B. Tickets are $39.

When Doves Cry – The Prince Tribute Show 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at Thunder Valley Casino, Lincoln. This highly acclaimed, eight-piece ensemble is dedicated to preserving the musical legacy of Prince. Formed in Sacramento in 2015, it is widely considered one of the world’s most musically accurate tribute acts. Tickets from $43.
Women’s History Month Collection & Give-a-Way Drive 4-6 p.m. Friday, March 20, at Valley Hi – North Laguna Library, 7400 Imagination Parkway. In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Sacramento Poor People’s Campaign is partnering with the Black Hair and Black Hygiene Project to co-host this drive. Also seeking volunteers. Author Talk Featuring Jordan Robinson’s ‘Court Queens’ 6 p.m. Friday, March 20, at the Guild Theater. “Court Queens: Celebrate the Players, Teams, and History of Women’s Basketball,” is a beautifully designed, full-color tour through the history of women’s basketball, from Senda Berenson, who introduced basketball to women for the first time in 1892 (they played in hoop skirts!), through the birth of organized women’s college basketball in the 1970s, through the WNBA’s recent explosion in popularity. Luenell – Live Comedy 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at Punch Line Comedy Club.
