Outdoor enthusiasts will have plenty to see this weekend at the Kern County Fairgrounds, where the Central Valley Sportsmen Boat and RV Show returns with boats, RVs and a wide range of outdoor attractions.

The show kicks off tomorrow and runs Saturday and Sunday at the fairgrounds. Organizers said the event will feature hundreds of exhibitors and is designed as an all-around outdoor show, not just a place to shop for boats and RVs.

Chris Kueneman, identified as the owner, said the weekend is a prime time for anyone considering a purchase. “If you’re looking for a boat or RV, this is absolutely the time to be there,” Kueneman said. “They’re gonna have dealer incentives, they’re gonna have special show pricing.”

Kueneman said the event also includes an outdoor patio area and outdoor barbecues, along with other attractions. One of the must-see features, he said, is the dog show. “Dogtopia presents, Doc dogs. Sorry, Doc dogs. Is the jumping dogs. It’s, it’s a must see for sure,” he said.

Among the exhibitors will be Royal Coach RVs, which showcased a Forest River Puma trailer ahead of the weekend. A Justin Unruh said the model on display is a 21-foot trailer described as a “couples coach,” designed for two people, though other floor plans are available for larger families.

The trailer’s layout includes a front kitchen, with counter space, pantry storage and seating, along with a rear master suite with a walk-around queen bed. Unruh said the Puma shown retails for “just around $25,000,” and added that “this weekend, everything’s discounted if you come out to the show before Sunday.”

The show will also include Women in the Outdoors, Bakersfield, an outreach program that teaches women outdoor skills. Nancy Tidwell said the group educates women on a range of activities, including archery, outdoor cooking and firearm safety. “One of the things we we do teach them is how to shoot a bow and actually hit targets,” Tidwell said, adding that the bow she teaches is designed to work “for any length of any size of a woman.”

Tidwell said she will be at the event all weekend and encouraged newcomers who may be hesitant to try it. “Basically, just keep keep your mind open about it, because these are very easy to shoot,” she said.

Tickets are available at the door, and Kueneman said discounted tickets can be purchased online. He also said discounted tickets are available at “all the Sully stores in town” where buyers can avoid credit card fees.
