CALIFORNIA, USA — Amazon Fresh stores across California close their doors for good Friday, March 13, according to an Amazon spokesperson.
Amazon had previously announced it would close nearly all of its Amazon Fresh stores on Feb. 1, with California locations remaining open longer because of a state law requiring grocery stores to stay open for 45 days after a public announcement of closure.
There are 22 Amazon Fresh stores in California, including stores in Roseville, Elk Grove and Citrus Heights.
Some of the shuttered stores will be converted into Whole Foods locations, according to a company blog post. It’s not clear what will happen to the others.
