Police are investigating an alleged kidnapping involving a woman who says she was taken against her will while out on a date Thursday night in Fresno.
According to police, the incident was reported around 8 p.m. The woman told officers she was with a man she had met online when she was forced into a vehicle in Fresno.
Investigators said the woman escaped by jumping from the moving car. She sustained minor injuries, police said.
Police said a description of the suspect is being withheld to not compromise the investigation.
Police offered some tips:
Police recommend that people know who they’re meeting “because a lot of these profiles have a picture, but they have no clue who this person is.” Verify the person’s identity, get to know them and also verify you’re meeting who you think you’re meeting.
Police also recommend meeting in public, having someone you know accompany you, and meeting during the day.
