L.A. horror fans, mark your calendars: Guillermo del Toro, the master of gothic monsters behind Pan’s Labyrinth and The Shape of Water, is treating the city’s audiences to a week of his favorite horror films. Starting October 26 and running through November 8, American Cinematheque is screening a selection of monster movies curated by Del Toro that you won’t want to miss.
From King Kong to Bride of Frankenstein, the Oscar-winning director has compiled an eerie list that will delight viewers at the Los Feliz 3 Theatre and the Aero Theatre in Los Angeles. The series culminates with an exclusive, free 35mm screening of the director’s highly anticipated Frankenstein followed by a Q&A with Del Toro himself. Prepare for a week where monsters rule the screen.

Exclusive 35mm Frankenstein Screening + Q&A

The series’ highlight is a free 35mm screening of Frankenstein, exclusive to members of American Cinematheque, followed by a Q&A with Del Toro, Starring Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi and Mia Goth, his adaptation of Mary Shelley’s renowned novel premieres on Netflix November 7, 2025. His exciting take on the world’s most infamous monster builds on his oeuvre of gothic-inspired stories about outsiders that have consistently captivated audiences.
And while tickets to this special screening are currently sold out, fans still have a chance to celebrate the film’s release with its director, as the theater will have a standby line on the day.
