It’s a week of new beginnings across Long Beach — starting with the ribbon cutting of Ramona Park’s newly redesigned playground on Saturday.

Residents can also take part in the virtual kickoff for Long Beach’s new Urban Forest Plan, and an open house held by The Department of Economic Development & Opportunity to celebrate its new name. A new piece of public art will join the city landscape later in the week when a mural, designed by local youth to promote sustainability, is unveiled on Thursday.

Two annual celebrations will take place in Long Beach this coming week — both free to the public. The Long Beach Airport’s Festival of Flight will open to both aviation enthusiasts and local families alike on Saturday, with aircraft displays, live entertainment and food trucks. The following day, the Museum of Latin American Art will host its Día de los Muertos Festival, featuring music, dance, art workshops and cultural traditions that honor loved ones.
