ALAMEDA, CA — Authorities are warning parents about two unpermitted “beach takeover” parties being advertised on social media for the East Bay in the coming days.
The events being promoted are scheduled for Sunday and St. Patrick’s Day on Tuesday, at Crown Beach in the East Bay Regional Park District, authorities said.
The events, which are geared specifically towards “young people,” is rasiing concerns over the safety and supervision of minors, police said.
“Specifically, one event promotes an ‘assassin’ style game using water guns and water balloons,” police said. “While this may seem like harmless fun, similar games in the past have led to unintended and dangerous consequences.”
Police urge parents or guardians to talk with their children to discourage taking part in the gatherings.
“Crown Beach is East Bay Regional Park District property, and EBRPD officers, with support from APD, will have increased staffing and patrols to help ensure public safety,” authorities said. “Our goal is to keep Crown Beach safe and welcoming forever.”
