Former Nebraska linebacker and NFL Pro Bowler Luke Gifford has signed a two-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers. The NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero broke the initial news of the linebacker’s return to the Bay Area.

The two-year deal is worth $5.3 million. Last season was Gifford’s first season with San Francisco. He appeared in all 17 games and ended the year with 35 tackles and earned his first Pro Bowl invitation.

Gifford played at Nebraska from 2014 to 2018. The Lincoln native appeared in 29 games and recorded 109 tackles, 15.5 for a loss, 7.0 sacks, and one interception. He was undrafted in the 2019 draft and signed with the Dallas Cowboys.

After four seasons with the Cowboys, he then signed a two-year deal with the Tennessee Titans. In 90 career NFL games, he has 14 starts with 130 tackles, 2.0 for loss, and one interception.
