Former Nebraska linebacker and NFL Pro Bowler Luke Gifford has signed a two-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers. The NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero broke the initial news of the linebacker’s return to the Bay Area.Â
The two-year deal is worth $5.3 million. Last season was Gifford’s first season with San Francisco. He appeared in all 17 games and ended the year with 35 tackles and earned his first Pro Bowl invitation. Â
Gifford played at Nebraska from 2014 to 2018. The Lincoln native appeared in 29 games and recorded 109 tackles, 15.5 for a loss, 7.0 sacks, and one interception. He was undrafted in the 2019 draft and signed with the Dallas Cowboys.Â
After four seasons with the Cowboys, he then signed a two-year deal with the Tennessee Titans. In 90 career NFL games, he has 14 starts with 130 tackles, 2.0 for loss, and one interception.Â
