A man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being shot in central Bakersfield late Friday night, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Officials said officers first responded to Beale Park around 11:33 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026. They received a ShotSpotter activation from the area.
When they arrived, officers found a man in the park suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and is currently in critical condition.
Detectives responded and assumed the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional details will be released as they become available.
