The 44th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival kicked off at Balboa Park Saturday morning.
The event is hosted by the Irish Congress of Southern California. And it’s the largest Saint Patrick’s Day Parade west of the Mississippi. Each year, the Irish Congress brings together fraternal groups from all over San Diego. And organizers say they welcome the entire community to enjoy the festivities.
“This is an event that brings together community members from all over San Diego,” said Torrey Stepp of the San Diego Firefighters Emerald Society. “So many different types of organizations. So many people. Lots of demographics enjoying each other, lots of people who just want to enjoy community.”
The theme for this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Irish Festival is “Here, There, Irish Culture Everywhere!”
