One person was killed and another hospitalized early Sunday after a crash in downtown Los Angeles resulted in the car catching fire.
The car crash was reported at 1:46 a.m. on the northbound 110 Freeway at 3rd Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. For reasons still under investigation, at least one vehicle crashed on the freeway, sending flames bursting from the car.
Video from the scene showed the vehicle overturned, fully engulfed in flames on the freeway as firefighters tried to extinguish it.
The person who was killed in the crash died at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol. The surviving individual was hospitalized in critical condition.
Officials did not release the name of the person who died.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
