1 Injured in Fatal Crash on State Route 99 in Sacramento

Sacramento, CA (March 14, 2026) – A single-vehicle crash on State Route 99 near Pringle Avenue left one person dead and another seriously injured early Saturday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at about 2:40 a.m. when a black Honda Civic veered off the roadway and onto the shoulder. 

The vehicle then traveled up an embankment, struck a guardrail, and overturned.

Emergency responders found the male driver with major injuries and transported him to a local hospital for treatment. 

Authorities pronounced the male passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, dead at the scene.

Investigators said alcohol was a factor in the collision. 

CHP officers continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.

Officials have not yet released the identities of the driver or passenger pending notification of next of kin.
