The theme was, “Starry Night” and the class of 2026 National Charity League, Inc. Del Norte Chapter (NCL) Ticktockers shined like stars on a glittering stage at The US Grant Hotel in downtown San Diego, on Saturday, Febr. 28.
The night celebrated the culmination of six years in NCL for the 25 Ticktockers who will all be graduating at the end of the school year. In that time, the young women have collectively donated 7,772 service hours to the community through NCL, according to a news release.
NCL Chapter President Danielle White opened the evening by congratulating each Ticktocker on their achievements and their dedication to NCL. President-elect Sarah Epstein served as the emcee throughout the night.
Dressed in white ballgowns and escorted by their mothers and either their fathers or uncles, each Ticktocker was given a moment on stage to be honored with a brief bio and a slideshow of special moments in their lives. Guests also listened to a recording by each Ticktocker that expressed their gratitude to their mothers who joined them throughout their six-year journey in NCL, the news release stated.
Service awards were presented to the Ticktockers and their mothers who went beyond the required hours. The highest honor, and one exclusive to the chapter, the Lexi Dale Service Award, went to senior Maeve McEvoy who cumulatively logged 486.5 hours during her six years in NCL.
Roya Ostadan received the Merci Award and the Hourglass Award for logging 111.5 hours during the chapter year. The Yellow Rose Bouquet Award goes to Ticktockers who log 100 hours or more in a chapter year. This award went to both McEvoy and Ostadan.
The Yellow Rosebud Award went to Cordelia Erikson who recorded 50 hours or more during a chapter year. The Mission Bell Award for Ticktockers who record more than 50 hours in one philanthropy, went to Maeve McEvoy. A Mother-Daughter Award is given to mothers and daughters who complete 25-plus hours of philanthropy together. Seven mother-daughter teams were awarded this honor, they are: Mia and Lory Fisher, Sami and MiRa Huyghe, Hanna and Tracy LaGrossa, Maeve and Kerily McEvoy, Megan and Louise Melcher, Ayla Johnson and Corinne Moll, and Lindsay and Kate Zimmer, according to the news release.
The seniors also gave a presentation on their Senior Project, a dedicated effort the entire class participates in focused on helping a specific philanthropy in NCL. The class of 2026 dedicated their focus on Bridge of Hope San Diego, a nonprofit organization that supports families experiencing housing insecurity and crisis. Together they transformed an outdated, underutilized space into a welcoming and calming living room and bathroom for all guests to enjoy. Project leaders Ayla Johnson, Lindsay Zimmer and Mia Fisher spoke about the project and presented a before and after video.
After the awards ceremony, the traditional Father/Escort, Daughter dance was performed with a classical waltz followed by a funky contemporary dance.
The event was organized by Class of 2027 Patronesses Heather Swortwood and Beck Howe and produced by SD Visual Productions.
The news release stated that White summed up the night saying, “Seeing our Ticktockers at the end of their journey and looking back at all their enormous accomplishments gives me confidence in knowing NCL continues to be part of the development of great women and our future leaders.”
