SAN DIEGO (March 15, 2026) – Washington State rallied to tie the game in the sixth inning before San Diego State answered in the later innings to post a 15-10 victory and take the series from WSU at Tony Gwynn Stadium Sunday afternoon.
The Cougars scored in four straight innings to erase an 8-3 deficit and tied the game at eighth after a three-run sixth inning. The Aztecs answered in a big way, scoring twice in the seventh and five more in the seventh to take the series rubber game after SDSU won the Friday opener and WSU evened the series Saturday.
Gavin Roy, Max Hartman and Ryan Skjonsby each recorded two-hit games while Roy scored three runs, Hartman drove in two runs and Dustin Robinson drove in three runs.
KEY MOMENTS OF THE GAME
WSU jumped out to an early lead as Gavin Roy was hit by a pitch and Matt Priest walked before Robinson launched a 3-2 pitch deep to centerfield for a two-run double. SDSU answered with a six-run second inning after seven hits in the inning including a grand slam to left.
WSU began to chip away as Priest scored on a wild pitch in the third, Noah Thein singled home a run in the fourth, Roy scored on Dustin Robinson’s sacrifice fly in the fifth and the Cougars tied things up in the sixth. Dane Chavez scored on passed ball and Hartman pulled a two-run double to right field to tie the game at eight.
San Diego State took advantage of a pair of leadoff walks to plate two runs in their half of the sixth. The Aztecs pulled away with five runs in the seventh against the bullpen.
