A driver slammed into at least five parked cars in a downtown San Jose neighborhood early Sunday morning and then took off.

The incident happened shortly before 3 a.m., and the damage to the cars was extensive. Video footage showed a blue car hitting several cars, spinning and crossing into another lane on 7th Street.

Witnesses said a man was driving and another man was in the passenger seat, and the airbags deployed.

When Alex Duran, one of the victims, checked the front of his Toyota Scion, he found a mangled mess.

“I looked at it and I was like wow just in disbelief and then I looked at everyone else’s cars. It’s just something you can’t believe,” he said.

At least five cars were damaged, including Duran’s mother’s car, Alicia Parra. She said she doesn’t know if the driver had insurance and she’s wondering if she’ll have to pay for fixing both her son’s car and her own.

“It’s gonna be hard. I don’t have any money,” she said.

San Jose police responded this morning and are investigating. No word yet of any arrest.
