LOS ANGELES (KGO) — The glitz, glam and grandiose of Hollywood on full display.

Conan O’Brien was back for the second time as host sort of like me, but on a very different scale.

Taking it back to the awards show. No doubt, the Bay Area has so much to celebrate!

Oakland native Ryan Coogler, his team and their film “Sinners” saw success on Hollywood’s biggest night.

San Leandro native Autumn Durald Arkapaw stopped to chat with ABC7 Eyewitness News reporter Amanda Del Castillo on the red carpet.

Ahead of her historic win as the first woman to receive an Oscar for cinematography for her work on “Sinners”

“My auntie and uncles were in Fremont, San Mateo, um, I grew up in San Leandro and Oakland,” Autumn Durald Arkapaw said. “I feel like when I met Ryan, he felt like a family member or cousin to me, so we’re very chill Bay Area people.”

The spirit of home, carried into the Dolby Theater by many nominees with ties to the Bay Area.

Raphael Saadiq, nominated for his original song in “Sinners,” gave a shout out to his Oakland roots.

“Oakland is where I learned everything,” he said. “Without the bay, there would be no me. Without east Oakland, the deep east, town business, without Castlemont, Elmers, Brooksfield, all those places got me where I need to be.”

“Sinners” took home four Oscars.

Best original screen play, best score, cinematography and best actor for Michael B. Jordan.

Side note, the last time an actor won for playing two roles in the same film was at the 1966 show. 60 years later, Michael B. Jordan.
