FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Fresno Police Chief Mindy Casto held a news conference on Monday to announce multiple arrests in connection with a 2025 murder.
18-year-old Karim Williams, also known as Kari, was found shot to death on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

He was found lying in the road around 11:21 p.m. near Marks and McKinley Avenues.
Homicide detectives say the suspected shooter rummaged through Kari’s pockets while he was on the ground.
They determined the motive of the murder was for the robbery of a Louis Vuitton wrapped Sig Sauer pistol, which was known to be in Kari’s possession.
Chief Casto said Kari and the suspects were acquaintances, and they picked him up and lured him to the location with the pretence of attending a party.
They proceeded to rob and murder him.
“After over 1000 hours of investigation, multiple witness interviews, 24 search warrants, both physical and forensic, 6 suspects were identified as murdering and robbing Kari, 4 adults and two juveniles,” Casto said.
Two of the six were already in custody on unrelated charges, and the other four were arrested on Friday.
They’re being charged with robbery and murder and facing possible gang enhancement charges as well.
Although this was not a crime amongst rival gang members, it was an internal issue that resulted in Kari’s robbery and murder.
Fresno County District Attorney Lisa Smittcamp said the suspects were all between the ages of 13 and 20 at the time of the shooting.
“These are children, these are young people, these are young adults who are engaged in these senseless acts of violence,” said Smittcamp.
“Under California law, when individuals participate together in certain felonies, namely robbery, and that act results in a killing, each participant can be held accountable for murder,” said Smittcamp. “Justice in this case is now going to move forward in both the juvenile and adult courts, where we will present the evidence and try to pursue accountability for Kari and his family, and can continue to work to protect the community.”
