BERKELEY, CA — The Fremont Police Department issued a public service announcement ahead of St. Patrick’s Day on Tuesday.
St. Patrick’s Day lands on Tuesday this year, and the Berkeley Police Department is reminding those celebrating to drink responsibly and plan for a safe passage home.
“We want people to make St. Patrick’s Day memorable for all the right reasons,” Lieutenant Lieutenant Rashawn Cummings said in a statement Monday. “Before you raise a glass, make sure you’ve planned for a safe ride home, whether that’s a designated sober driver, rideshare, taxi or public transportation.”
The agency will have additional officers on patrol for St. Patrick’s Day, looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said.
“If you plan on drinking or taking medications with a driving warning label, let someone who is sober drive,” the department said. “If you see someone who appears to be driving while impaired, call 9-1-1.”
